"LET CHILDREN BE HAPPY LET CHILDREN ENJOY THINGS STOP TARNISHING CHILDREN’S LIVES WITH YOUR ADULT BITTERNESS AND CYNICISM"

I think a far more helpful interpretation of this message is: yes you may look back on the things you said and did when you were younger, and you will cringe with regret, your soul will curdle at some of the memories, you may even feel eaten alive by guilt for some of it…and that’s okay. We’re all changing, all the time. People change, our interests change, our beliefs change, we learn, we grow. Whether it’s something hugely profound or growing out of a fandom we no longer fits us.

None of us are who we are at fourteen.

Except perhaps those adults who feel the need to shame children for trying to discover who they are through the things that currently bring them joy. Those people can fuck off.
